  1. I felt that way as well on Ritalin and STILL had the racing mind, to the point of not being able to communicate clearly because my mouth couldn’t keep up with my brain (thoughts). It was VERY frustrating! My doctor changed my meds to Adderall and guanfacine and that made a HUGE difference! I can manage my thoughts as well as tasks most days. I found using lists to at least clear my mind is very helpful. Also, I gave myself permission to do “some” OR all of the tasks and not beat myself up IF I don’t accomplish all of them. Let’s be real…some days we can climb Mount Everest, while other days it seems that a gentle incline on a grassy rolling hill takes the same effort. The point is…being and feeling and KNOWING each day I/we can be effective and productive by simply accomplishing SOMETHING rather than feeling useless by doing nothing because of expectations we have for ourselves. If you’re like me, those expectations CHANGE by the minute.

It’s so important to realize that doing more doesn’t mean you are more USEFUL than on the days you do less. It’s VERY easy to judge our overall worth on an hourly basis by measuring our “accomplishments”. Don’t do that to yourself… Because EVERY HOUR brings new changes for us. And— yes, sometimes every minute for some of us…

  2. I am 35 and have been testing out different medications and most of them make me very irritable and feel like I want to cry. Vyvanse was the worst and now I am taking ritalin and although it isn’t as bad, I still feel irritable all day. Also, my jas is super tense, sometimes to a point that it causes migraines. I’m worried that all ADHD medications I try will give me these effects.
