  1. For ZINC, IRON, MAGNESIUM, you said that food intake is the safest way to get these. It would be helpful to list some foods that are high in these (like you listed foods for protein). Do you have any recommendations you can give?

  2. @chakramedicine – For your response about doctors not discussing supplements and natural remedies: Some of the problem is that in the US supplements aren’t regulated, and so there’s a huge disparity in quality. So I think most doctors aren’t going to promote things that they don’t know if they work. But they know that medicine works.

  3. The supplements listed have mainly for adult only consumption on their labels…would be more helpful to list soups for kids if children are included in the article.

  4. We need to be our own care managers. When I ask medical doctors about nutrition they naysay everything I ask, and say, “Just eat a balanced diet.” They don’t discuss supplements and natural resources. Nutritionists and dietitians sometimes know about this, naturopaths know about this, and the Internet knows a lot about this, especially sites like Medscape and Wikipedia. As I survey published research, I can develop trusted resources.

  5. My son is 8 and is on a stimulant to help him concentrate in school I see it is helping him but I would also like to give him all the vitamins/multiminerals named in this article. Can he take the multivitamin/multimineral mentioned in this article while on his stimulate??

    1. This is a question you must get answered by your son’s prescribing doctor or pharmacist.

  6. What about essential oils? My child’s pediatrician is big into those. Also, how many omega fatty acids should an 11 year old take in order to see benefits?

      1. Please consult with your child’s physician for an appropriate dose for your child.

  7. What are potential side effects? Do individuals take all of these? Can they be taken with stimulant medications?
