Coping Strategies for Stress
Adults with ADHD are particularly susceptible to stress: they have higher levels of cortisol than people without the diagnosis. Stress-impaired executive function diminishes working memory and impulse control, as well as mental flexibility and coping skills. Stress also makes it hard for adults with ADHD to focus.
During a pandemic, when stress is exacerbated in so many of our lives, adults with ADHD should assess their coping skills. The chart on the second page of this download is a great tool to assess your ability to handle stressors.
