While mental health should be as important-if not more important than physical health (as mental health has a high percentage of impacting physical health) and anyone in need of assistance should reach out for it. ADD/AHDH is bot a mental disorder or disease as it is touted in this country. It is a Neurodivergence. This means that the brain is literally wired differently. Our society had stigmatized and handicapped something that is completely natural and ok, just because it doesn’t fit into society’s standard of “normal” (which is a fallacy btw) doesn’t mean that it’s a disease or a disorder. The way our society is structure precludes ANY type of divergence. Human being were not build to live the way that our society tells us is “right”. Our society is wrong NOT our Neurodivergence. We need to have systems in place for ALL type of brains not just those society finds palatable.

I’m so grateful for this site and for questionnaires like this one. I was diagnosed in 2006, and have been on Focalin since then. It helps tremendously, but i also have Bipolar 2, and latelyIve been having symptoms again, but am not sure which one is the cause. Im going ti talk to my doctor , but in the mean time this helps me because the ADD had always been the “secondary” diagnosis and it hadn’t occurred to me that this is as serious as the Bipolar.

Anyway I live this site! Im learning things about this illness i never knew before, and i wish that my doctor in 2006 had given me information instead of just giving me meds.

This is for a school advocacy project
Mental health is a very serious thing even though it is not taken as seriously as physical health. If you suspect you have some mental disorder, such as adhd, it is perfectly ok to go the doctor. Breaking the stigma behind mental heath can lead others with mental health problems to get treatment. I personally have adhd, and without going to get treatment for it, finishing work would be near impossible.
